This guide walks you through two methods to reset a customer's account password on Shopify.

To reset a customer's account password in Shopify, you can follow one of the two methods:
- Method 1: Reset customer's account password from admin dashboard
- Method 2: Reset customer's account password from the Shopify store login page
Method 1: Reset customer's account password from admin dashboard
Step 1: Go to the 'Customers' section
- Log in to your Shopify admin dashboard.
- Navigate to the left side of the screen and click on "Customers" section in the menu list.
Step 2: Select your customer
In the Customers section, you'll see a list of customers. Choose the customer for whom you need to reset the password.
Note: We selected our test customer as a sample in the screenshot below:
Step 3: Reset the password
- Once you've selected the customer, you'll be directed to the customer profile page.
- Click on the "More Actions" dropdown.
Note: The "Reset password" option won't be visible for customers who haven't activated their accounts yet.
- Select "Reset password" from the dropdown list.
- A "Reset password" window will appear. Confirm by clicking the "Reset password" button at the bottom of the window.
- An email with instructions will be sent to the selected customer.

Method 2: Reset customer's account password from the Shopify store login page
Step 1: Go to the login page
Visit your web store and navigate to the login page.
Note: Typically login page located at www.YourWebsite.com/accounts/login
Step 2: Click on "Forgot your password?"
On the login page, click on the "Forgot your password?" link.
Note: The position of the 'Forgot your password' link may appear slightly different on your website.

Step 3: Submit request to reset password
- After clicking on the "Forgot your password?" link, a rest your password section will appear, requiring you to enter the registered email address.
- Enter the email address for which you want to reset password and submit request.
- An email with instructions will be sent to the submitted customer's email address. The customer should follow the instructions received via email to set a new password.

Note
To reset password, the customer account must already be activated or have a status of 'Has a classic account'. Without 'Has a classic account' status, you cannot reset the password. In such case, you should send an invite to the customer for password activation. Learn more about customer account status, Click here
